Projekt: PARCP-USB - fertig!
Petr:
Hi all,
sorry for not writing in German, hopefully Google can translate my message just like I read your forum using its online translator (in Google Chrome).
I have decided to register in this forum because I wanted to warn you regarding the max USB cable length. You shouldn't try exceeding the 5 meters because you'll hit the physical limits of our Universe. The Creator set the speed of light too low, only 300 thousand km/s and with such low speed the USB cable cannot be longer than 5 meters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#Cabling
I just wanted to let you know before you'd spend 12 euro for a long cable.
Anyway, when I am here I'd like to thank to all guys who bought the PARCP-USB and/or registered PARCP software (that still works between ST-ST or ST-oldPC with a special cable).
As for the missing features: certain drag & drop is supported since ages (try dropping a file onto PARCP.TTP icon on your GEM desktop while you have PARSERVE running on the other machine). As for network shares - you could "mount" them to a regular disk drive letter, right? It's a workaround but not too complicated.
I'll let you know if I manage to get the OSX version of PARCP running, I know some of you are waiting for it.

Hello, what is it doing while it displays "collectig info" after selecting several folders and press F5 to copy them? Nothing happens then for a long time, the LED in the adapter is not flashing and not the harddisk in my STacy which I am backing up now for the first time. Then after a long time, there is activity and then it asks if I want to copy.

Hi Petr,
you are right, USB 2.0 is not specified for length > 5m. Probably the speed will be reduced. But if the two computers haven't any place close to each other, its the cheapest solution. And the result agrees with me. For me it's not critical waiting 10 or 11 minutes to backup, only source and target files have to be the same. Thanks again for this!
By the way:
only paid 6.05 EUR for 1 x 5m cable
best regards,
Achim

Ist die Mac-Version jetzt offiziell? Kann ich mit nur einen Lizenzschlüssel PC und Macversion gleichzeitig nutzen? (Falls die Macversion noch nicht ganz rund läuft).
