Einstellbare Kapazität ist quasi ein "Standard-Feature" bei SCSI. Das Handbuch zu Deiner Platte sagt:

Folglich sollte Dein erster Versuch sein, das mit MODE SELECT wieder zurückzustellen.

Hast du mal versucht die Platten über das Controller-Bios zu formatieren? Ist schon ewig lange her aber ich meine die Controller hatten entsprechende Optionen in der Contoller-Firmware.

Ja, habe aus dem Adaptec-Bios heraus formatiert.
Ich google jetzt mal nach "MODE SELECT" in Verbindung mit SCSI Kommandos und vor allem wie ich das Kommanfo an die Platte schicke. Danke für den Hinweis @czietz!

Z.B. mit sg_format aus den sg3_utils (http://sg.danny.cz/sg/sg3_utils.html) mit der Option --count=-1. Evtl. hat die Platte ja auch eine Sektorgröße ungleich 512 Bytes, dann zusätzlich die Option --size=512.
