Mega STE 10MB Wevelsieb reine ST Ram Erweiterung ...
Lukas Frank:
Lukas Frank:
Habe tOri falsch verstanden. Der MegaSTE mit der 10MB Wevelsieb Erweiterung ist noch in Ordnung. Er soll ihn aber trotzdem erstmal behalten ...
--- Zitat ---Hi Frank,
You wrote, and I read on the Atari-Home.de, that the chip was destroyed. That's not the case :) The memory is OK. I tried writing and reading security settings from a TEST chip same type, NOT from your original chip. I never do this to work on unknown chips without full knowledge. I destroyed the test chip, not the original. That's why I'm not even starting this with the original GAL 20V8 because it will definitely fail... All is waiting for any solution :D
everything is under control

... erste Nachtricht von tOri ...
--- Zitat ---I have very bad news regarding Wavelsiep 10MB :-/
Today, I finally found time, and the weather is already cooperating (it's warmer today), to get started on the first stage of work on this expansion. The first thing I had to do was see if I could bypass the security features of the ST 20AS25HB1 chip. I have these chips (GAL20V8-25HB1), so I took one, decapsulated it, and used my lasers to try to disable the security. Unfortunately, just like with the GAL16V8D Lattice, I couldn't disable the security and can't recover the chip's configuration. This expansion only contains this one chip. The others are National Semiconductor GAL16V8 GALs, which I previously unlocked without any problems. It seems that this (AS) series has heavily secured configuration bits – perhaps, like in the PALCE, they're covered with a metallic layer, preventing light from reaching them. I looked at the die under a microscope, and there are indeed large areas of metallic material covering the underlying areas. This could be the reason it's impossible to read. It was probably done intentionally by the manufacturer to block this hacking method.
Ultimately, I destroyed the circuit because with each subsequent attempt, I increased the laser power, which likely caused too many transistors to switch and a devastating short circuit in the chip. Unfortunately, there's always a risk associated with such processes. And in this situation, when I can't read that one chip, restoring the Wavelsiep expansion becomes pointless. I'm very, very sorry. It's a shame that everything was secured because of him. Now this equipment will slowly fade into oblivion...

Lukas Frank:
