Short Guide to using MSA by Zogging Hell. Disclaimer: Use this program at your own risk. If you bugger something up we cannot be held responsible... However we can inform you that you should not insert this program up your anus... Firstly MSA has built in help, so check that first and foremost. If your still stuck have a look at this short guide. On running the program you'll find yourself facing the main dialogue. Most of it is self explanatory if you can use a file selector, but just to break you in. First of all you'll need a blank double sided floppy, and another floppy or hard drive with the MSA file on. Got it? Right. To write a disk in ST format, you'll need to use File > Disk. Generally you'll need to format the floppy as ST games come on some weird and wonderful disks (and unless you can forsee the future your unlikey to have a weird and wonderfully formatted disk ready, will you?). So check this box. Remove the check from the protect disk box. This is useful when your using disks that are not games, but if you leave it on you'll wipe the games boot sector and bugger the game. Right that done look at the top of the program's dialogue box in the General Parameters section. Diskdrive refers to the drive the game will be written to (or read from, see later). MSA-File is the position of the *.MSA file to be written to disk. Single disk users should set the disk drive to A and locate the MSA file on A. Double disk drive owners, should put the blank floppy in drive A and read the MSA file from the disk in drive B (or vice versa). Hard disk owners put your floppy to be written to in drive A and then locate the MSA file on your hard drive. Easy Eh? All you have to do now is click on File > Disk in the bottom left corner and MSA will beaver away at 'making' your disk. Single floppy owners should change disks when prompted. Double floppy owners and hard drive owners can be thankful they forked out the extra cash. If you get a disk error, don't panic, try the file again with another disk (some don't like being formatted to higher densities). Right, if you want to create an MSA file its a bit like being in reverse. In general parameters make sure the Diskdrive is A. Click on the MSA-File selector button. Type in here the name you want your MSA file to have (not forgetting the MSA extension bit after the name) and if you've got a hard drive locate where you want to put it. Insert the disk which is to be MSA'd into floppy drive A. In Disk > File, verify that Compression is crossed and then simply click on Disk > File in the bottom left corner. You can pretty much ignore the other options. Disk Info and File Info show some fascinating stuff and Tracks in the Disk>File section is probably best left alone... Some commercisl games won't copy, but some do, particularly those released on the Hit Squad label. Zogging Hell would like to preserve as many games as possible for future generations, so if you manage to get an MSA of a disk we haven't got, please send it to us.... Zogging Hell!!!!
