Join the Atari Music Network!
« am: Sa 02.01.2010, 17:24:26 »
From sequencing Tangerine Dream and Kraftwerk concerts in the 80's to tearing up the dance floors at the 2010 Blip Festival, Atari's reputation as a music monster machine has persisted for a quarter of a century. For MIDI synth enthusiasts, the Atari was and still is the ultimate bridge between man, music, and machine. For chip musicians, the Atari's untapped sonic palette has yet to paint the ever-expanding canvas of 8-bit music.  But the Atari was more than just a great computer - it defined an entire era that included synthesists and chiptuners from the Amiga, Commodore, ZX Spectrum, NES, PC, and MAC communities. AMN welcomes and celebrates all vintage digital musicians no matter what their computer - as long as it's slightly yellowed, of course!

The Atari Music Network (AMN) aims to:

•    Provide free webspace for all vintage computer musicians to create professional pages they can upload their music and videos to. See AMN Live! for more details!
•    Stimulate social interaction between vintage computer musicians and developers on AMN's Forum
•    Encourage ex-developers to update and redistribute commercial software or release it into the public domain.

     Specific to Atarians

•    Advocate and sponsor Atari based musicians in the MIDI & 8-bit music scene.
•    Catalog and review all known Atari music software and hardware.
•    Collect and offer hard to find Atari warez (abandoneware only).
•    Collect and offer sysex sound banks and software utilities for MIDI synths.

Zitat
Welcome back to the Atari Music Network, as you can see, the site is pretty much back up and running, though there are a few things to still tidy up here and there (At the time of typing this).

Getting this back up and running has not been easy due to things like time differences between the UK and the US, which makes anything close to real time communication over email pretty much impossible, however the site is back.

Keeping a site like this running takes a lot of time and effort, without this nothing runs at all. Which is the point of this post.

If you can help with the running of the site in any way, shape or form, please do get in touch as we would love to hear from you. Ideally were looking to put together a team to make the overall running of the site as smooth as possible. What we are looking for are people with skills in, or are interested in the following:

Joomla! content creation/editing
Forum Moderators
Publicity
Article writing/editing

If you feel you can help in some way, or would like to try something a little different, you can either PM me here or email malcolm.ramage@malcolmramage.com

Donovan Logan, the side owner, has deleted all his facebook & twitter accounts. Also all of his mail accounts are deleted too... Don't know whats happened....

Donovan Logan, the side owner, has deleted all his facebook & twitter accounts. Also all of his mail accounts are deleted too... Don't know whats happened....

First off, sorry for taking this long to provide an explanation but I can tell you that Donovan is alive and well and starting to look at doing some new projects in the future.  As you may have guessed I'm not Donovan.

I'm the new site owner and admin Malcolm Ramage and if you have been to the site recently you will have seen my forum name on there a lot, and my name alongside many of the newer articles on there.

Donovan created a community that genuinely cared when the site went offline and with the recent completion of the change of ownership, I finally saw just how far he had gone in trying to reach the Atari and chiptune communities in the number of forums actually joined.

Since bringing the site back online, new albums have been uploaded along with some new software and new articles.  I have every intention of carrying on with what Donovan started and the community around the site created.  New twitter, facebook and email accounts have been created, all of which are directly tied to the site, especially the email accounts.

If you want to ask me anything directly, please feel free to get in touch, my email accounts are either malcolm.ramage@malcolmramge.com or malcolm.ramage@atarimusic.net
